You will probably receive better solutions from others. But my simple approach is to filter all Welcome mail into folders, leaving the unknown-unwelcome mail in the general InBox.
Filter for specific known items into appropriate folders, followed by the last filter, being The Bat's Known filter to put any non-specific items into a Welcome folder. This leaves everything else to sit in the InBox. Here you can giv it a quick glance before deleting the lot.
