Not "clear" the subject line, but "clean" it.
Some mailing lists add something like "[text]" to the subject line.
So replies might look like, for example:
Re: [text] Some Subject
Re: [text] Re: Some Subject
[text] Re: Some Subject
Without "cleaning," TB's subject threading fails. After cleaning, all
3 examples above would look like:
Re: Some Subject
