Because you are coming from Outlook Express which is not able to work
with PGP/MIME at all, you get confused.  The messages you sign with
PGP/MIME look like normal messages without any PGP stuff visible but
the button at the message preview pane and the check mark on the
message envelope. So, I suppose, this is working, but you just don't
understand in which way :-)
