It's more like a 'snapshot' of what's on computer B. In this way, only
what is needed from computer A is collected for synchronisation with
computer B.

Here, the synchronization data for updating computer B is prepared and
packaged into a single synchronisation file.

Yes. This now completes the process by updating computer A.

The advantage of this method is that none of your mail on computer B is
lost, which is what would happen with a simple overwriting of one
installation with another. If the installations are in the same location
on both systems and you aren't concerned with this, then you could just
do what Tony and MAU suggested.
