Thanks mate. I did manage to work it out shortly after I sent the original post. It is, as pointed out by yourself, remarkably simple > The moment you open OE for whatever reason, it will associate itself > with these file types without asking. Send a bugreport to the makers > of that piece of software. Nothing else you can do. That makes sense and if I thought I would get any joy from sending a bug report to Microsoft I may do just that (but I may end up sending a lot of reports), but The Bat! losing its file association happens without opening OE. As I mentioned, because I don't use OE but have a couple of colleagues who do (and sometimes have questions) I will probably only open the application once every couple of weeks but TB will still lose its file associations more often than that. Is there anything else anyone can think of that may be causing this?
