This won't help you much, but I have no problems with the scroll wheel: At home I use a Creative mouse (I didn't know that brand either, it was the cheapest), and the driver installed itself from the Windows directory upon first startup after I had connected it to the USB port. Win98. In the office I use XP Pro with an HP mouse, but I don't know about the driver, as the IT department installed everything for me when I started.
