I remember many Beta's ago that there was a similar problem of the
attachment icon not showing until you selected the message in the
Message List pane... but to be honest, I don't know if/when it was
fixed, as I receive so little attachments I've never paid much attention
to it... but rest assured the problem was there at one time.
