I agree with this, I edit the default templates each time I create a new account. With variables that can get local info, I practically use a global template that is the same for each account. I also have many config settings that are the same on each account. Pretty much the only differences end up being individual mail transport stuff. Looking at Agent (newsgroup program by Forte) they have a default properties setting and then each group gets a properties setting with a check box that says "override default".
