Anyway, the above description of your steps worked great; my question is ... how does one back-out of the end result, i.e., return to where ALL messages are listed again versus just the messages containing the particular item that resulted from following your steps? I didn't stumble across the right combination of keys to be able to do that, so I had to close the application and reopen it again to evidently reset back to "normal" initial conditions.
