Hello Robin Anson,
As it seems no one else wants to even address this issue (which seems
to be leading me AWAY from TB!) I will respond to your input.
RA> The best approach I can think of would be to create a filter to
RA> save the attachments to a particular directory.
This would be a solution IF TB! would recognize them AS attachments
that can be saved - IT DOESN'T!
RA> This could be a manual one, activated by a hotkey, or it could
RA> automatically act on all messages from relevant mailing lists. You
RA> could add this as an action to the filters that already act on
RA> these messages perhaps?
The problem is, TB! doesn't even recognize these files _AS
ATTACHMENTS_ and _WON'T_ save them. This has turned what was an
automated solution back into HOURS of work on a daily basis. This is
time I do not have to spend on this hobby interest!
>> I realize this is not actually a TB! problem.
This was an original judgement error on my part - IT IS a TB! problem,
given the proliferation of this attachment scheme now. It will have
to be addressed, which everyone on the list seems to want to ignore.
RA> I think TB! could do a better job of recognising the type of
RA> attachment than it does. That would certainly help since then you
RA> would see a separate tab in the email, and you could view the JPEG
RA> file in that.
This is my point As this method becomes more widespread, it will HAVE
TO be addressed, but that may come after I have had to abandon TB! for
something that works NOW! This would be unfortunate, but there aren't
enough 'weeks in a day' for me to now revert to manually filtering and
saving these files. It just isn't worth it to me for what is a
passive hobby. It is however a responsibility I have taken on and
hundreds depend upon my doing it.
Solutions anyone?? This is important!!
