Perl should be no problem but the printers can. Did you look to the
compatibility sites for linux drivers? http://leenooks.com/1
There is a lot of hardware that is explicitly build for Windows (I had
such a modem in a Compaq laptop) and you will never get it work with
linux. Also these funny GDI printers can only work in a Windows
environment.
