Yes, right click on the specific folder.

Enabled "Keep messages in base for x days", on exit "Remove..." and
"Compress...".

For deleting *unread* messages, you have to open the account
properties and check if under Mail Management\Deletion the checkbox
"Purge Unread Messages" is activated.
