I think Microsoft announced a patch to fix the macros vulnerability, some time back. Unfortunately, MS doesn't like to let me download patches, ever since I got XP SP2. Wants to Update XP with Automatic Updates, but of course doesn't sent MS-Office patches that route. I couldn't get this done, even though I was using the Internet Explorer as browser, trying to do it. I don't scan the attachments my sister sends me, but she always sends me an announcing e-mail before she sends the attachment. I think you would be pretty safe to open any attachment, provided always that you have a good AV program running and *additionally* a background-running Trojan detector (the only one I know of that does that is TDS-3) and a spyware detector, like SpywareBlaster, also running in the background. Again, SpywareBlaster is the only program I know that catches Spyware as it appears and doesn't just remove after-the-fact. I happen to be a super-cautious person. That's why I go to the inconvenience of scanning any attachment that I wasn't expecting to arrive. -- Best regards, Mary The Bat! 3.5.25 on Windows XP 5.1 2600 Service Pack 2 ________________________________________________ Current version is 3.5.0.17 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
