So except the front end there is nothing (really) new, correct? What makes this program so superior over K9 or SpamPal? Not that I use any of those, as SA already filters server side, but why do they try to sell their product as such superior thing, if they only put a nice GUI to well known and working techniques? And why does somebody spend a 25000 price for such a *non-invention*? I'm not jealous, maybe it's even better these students get the money than anybody else who did not even try to work for getting it. But with all this debates about software patents in European Union and the fears of "trivia patents" getting overhand I ask myself where the priced invention is in this program ... Well, that's what e.g. NOD32, Norton and other AV-solutions already do for a while; except the fact they scan primarily for viruses. And to be honest: I don't like it. Whenever there's a program that intercepts TCP/IP packets by hooking in into the Windows API the trouble is preassigned. Search the archive how often Norton users had trouble checking their mail, had stalled connections and other thing, just because "a DLL automatically intercepted all POP3 calls". Don't ask me how often my multiple simultaneous POP3 connections stalled because NOD32 was not configured to ignore 'thebat.exe'. Guess how often I swear Kerio because it intercepts network traffic ... even albeit configured to let it pass through. Something *is* wicked in all these Windows hooks and APIs about TCP/IP stack. Don't get me wrong: I never intended to detain somebody from using it, I just wanted to know what is pretended to make this program so "predominant" ;-) -- Regards Peter Palmreuther (The Bat! v3.5.26 on Windows XP 5.1 Build 2600 Service Pack 2) Support your local outlaws!
