G'day TBUDL Members, I wrote a while back about continual lock-ups that I was experiencing with The Bat! on my new computer. The thread got hijacked :-) on to other lock-up problems apparently unrelated to my problem so I have just been playing around trying to see if I could track any obvious causes down.
After disabling my AV E-mail checking (EZ-Antivirus) the situation now seems better but I am still getting regular lock-ups when viewing downloaded mail in the "Browse Ticker Messages" screen. I generally get to view one message and then it locks up. The Browse window is totally unresponsive. I can close the Browse window from the Task Bar (right clicking and choosing "Close"), and can then re-open the Browse Ticker messages window by re-clicking on the Mail Ticker, only to have it lock up again generally after only one message. Closing and then re-opening The Bat! restores everything to normal operations and I can read all my mail until next time I download. The cycle generally (but not always) starts over again. As a test I have tried marking previously read messages "unread" so that the Mail Ticker appears, then the Browse Ticker messages works fine with no lock-ups. It somehow appears to be related to when new messages arrive in my mail box but I can't spot what is triggering the freezes. I generally try to resist browsing until all messages have been received and all connections to the server has been broken, but I have experimented with browsing while messages are still being downloaded and it seems to make no difference. Usually it freezes but not always. I have just done a "repair" re-install to see if that helps, if anyone can think of anything else to try I'd appreciate your suggestions. -- Bob Mo®®is Sunday, 10 July 2005 Using The Bat! v3.5.30 on Windows XP 5.1 Build 2600 Service Pack 2 ________________________________________________ Current version is 3.5.25 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
