As for the "windows doesn't get stuck" you might, as usual, just pray for it, or carry off some other paracomputing ceremony/ritual, if you are in mood, since it is mostly not TB related (the said OS has a quite high level of independence in making mess Itself). As for the other part of the question, hmmm...it is feasible but you should pay attention to the part of data which provides the related registry _key_ for the given version.
