I can't suggest otherwise than that it's most likely that you've been fiddling around. The only place where I can change it is in: Options -> Preferences -> Header Layout -> Colour But from your message I gather that you've been there. Have been playing with customization? In that case you could close TB and rename the tbuser.def file in your mail directory, this will cause all your customizations to be be forgotten.
