OK thanks for the help Thomas, I can get Leif's message I mentioned above 
showing correctly if I set the value of the "View HTML messages" using box to 
"Plain text and HTML" rather than "HTML and Plain text". However what I don't 
understand is why if the Content Type is set to text/html that TB doesn't use 
the "View messages with alternative layout (text and HTML) as" setting?
