  It is at this point that my system behaves differently than yours. The
  folders here do not go out to the account level, and hence I can't
  move them down into a new account. Why remains a mystery.

  I *can* drag folders around using MAU's strategy within the account
  but not from one account to another.

  As I said in my message to Miguel, I'll just have to recreate the
  folder structure within the Gmail account to which I wanted to move
  them. That will take some time, and it will entail almost completely
  re-creating my filters which will take even more time, but I can do it
  since it appears that is the only way to get it set up the way I want
  it.

  Ever optimistic, I've downloaded 3.80.06, and I'll keep my fingers
  crossed that installing it will cause my installation to behave like
  yours.
