Ok, this was not clear to me.

For example, I have my private accounts on the Voyager but not on my
work computer. That's how I check my private mail in the office (don't
want those mails on the office computer).

This is a good idea.  I may do this, too.  I've been using the gmail
web interface but have always been frustrated by the lack of S/MIME
support.  S/MIME is why I started looking at TB in the first place,
actually, since Opera does't have S/MIME support.  I've already
purchased Pro, so own a copy of Voyager.  Maybe I take the plunge and
move my personal email to Voyager.  Worth thinking about.

Today I learned that there is also a Thunderbird Portable which also
runs on a USB stick, so I couldn't impress this new acquaintance much.
I didn't ask him whether that has a synchronise function, because I
don't miss that function.

Thunderbird just didn't turn my crank.  I tried it for a while
(desktop version), but couldn't get too excited by it.  I imagine most
people on this least are similar!  :)
