Looks like something's gone corrupt, though I can't tell you why.
My solution would be to create a new account with the same settings as
the problem account.
Create the same folders and copy the messages from the old to the new
account. I hope you don't have hundreds of folders.
Also you've got to create the same filters and templates, you should
be able to copy those.
When all is done you can delete your problem account
