The problem was in both viewers and with both odd and even quotes. I changed the font size to something crazy (like 20 point), saved it, then changed it back to what I wanted and it stuck. Apparently when I tried that earlier I didn't save it and then go back. No idea why I had to go through all that foolishness, but it's fixed now.
