Ah, and although I found a discussion of how to do this, I didn't
understand it after all.  I'm not clear whether I will have similar
problems if I use the Default application folder.

I have a backup of my whole mail folder I want to install, if that is
relevant, and I intend to do backups in the future of the mail folder not
using the built in archive mechanism.  I want this to be easy.
