I'm not sure what you will gain in terms of formatting, but there have been
many other changes which most of us think are improvements!

First back up what you have.

SA> When I upgrade, will I have to recreate all folders and filters?
Normally, no.

SA> Will e-mail groups set up in my address book be lost upon upgrade?
Normally, no.

Normally, no.

No.

SA> What should I do to minimize the risk of loss of messages?
Make the back up.

SA> Do I need to disable my firewall and anti-virus when installing the

Not usually.

It is a long time since I used version 1.62. The current versions are bigger
and might therefore take longer to load but generally work quite fast.
