Hello fellow listmates,
As a long time user of The Bat, I have never found it necessary to upgrade. However, I no longer have tolerance for ver. 1.62r's lack of formatting functionality, and would also like to have more tagging options, so, its time to upgrade. In my current set-up, I have about six different e-mail accounts, with some of them having as many as a dozen different folders into which mail is automatically sorted. Many of these folders have tens of thousands of messages; a few have over 100,000. The Bat automatically compresses when it is closed. What should I do to insure as smooth a transition to the current version? When I upgrade, will I have to recreate all folders and filters? Will e-mail groups set up in my address book be lost upon upgrade? Will existing flags be lost with the upgrade? Will distinctions between read and unread messages be lost? What should I do to minimize the risk of loss of messages? Do I need to disable my firewall and anti-virus when installing the upgrade? Finally, one of the great assets of The Bat is that it has a small footprint and works very fast, much faster than the bloated program with which I am stuck using at the office. Will I experience a drastic reduction in speed, particularly with respect to message downloading, if I upgrade to the current version, given the greater functionality of the current version? -- Avram Sacks Chicago Using The Bat ver. 1.62r on Windows XP Professional, sp2 ________________________________________________ Current version is 4.0.18 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
