As you can see below, I am still using a "mature" version of TB, but I remember that one perennial problem that caused a slow down with TB was a proliferation of "BATxxxx.TMP" files in one or more of the TEMP folders. This seemed to be because the "xxxx" had to be unique and so TB searched the folder to determine a value that had not been previously used. If there were many left over BATxxxx.TMP files that search became noticeable.
