Use the first 15 prime numbers (excluding 1) for the intervals. The
longest interval would be 47 minutes. Eventually there would be a point
at which all of the checks coincided but it would be a long time away.
Smaller numbers of collisions would happen more frequently, but when
only two or three checks are being done at the same time the delay is
much smaller...
