As it happens, it does affect the actual. The so-called "Signature
delimiter" is really called a "Cut Mark". It is the point at which
signatures are cut off for an orderly reply. In the case of top-posted
email, that effectively ruins the thread. So, the cut mark or sig
delimiter is incompatible with top-posting.

While I rant a lot against top posting here on the list and it is
against the rules of the list, I do use top-posting in a lot of my
professional emails with clients. For that purpose I have a couple of
top-post templates that deliberately exclude the cut mark. I recommend
that you do the same rather than call for a change in behaviour that
would result in masking and softening the fact that TB shows the true
effect of a cut mark in that position.
