Thanks for the response. The longer serial number is on an undated piece of paper. This warning gives me pause: "We do recommend you to download or install The Bat! 4.2 only if you have a registration key valid for The Bat! 4.2, because this version has got a new format of the message base indices and backup file. If you downgrade from The Bat! 4.2 to The Bat! 4.0 or earlier version, you will be unable to restore from a backup file made by The Bat! 4.2, and the message base indices will be lost." -- Leonard S.
