The Intelligent Systems Centre (IntelliSys) at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) is working on various R&D issues in sensor networks and cyber-physical systems in order to develop impactful applications for large-scale deployment in Singapore.
We have developed and deployed several large-scale sensor networks such as the National Weather Sensor Grid (http://nwsp.ntu.edu.sg), the WaterWiSe@SG (http://aqueduct.nus.edu.sg/waterwise/), etc in Singapore. Building upon our experience and expertise, We are embarking on ambitious projects to develop and deploy unified city-scale sensor networks and cyber-physical infrastructures for urban sustainability and smart cities applications such as environmental monitoring, water infrastructure monitoring, intelligent transportation, smart buildings, smart grids, etc. We are developing participatory sensing and mobile computing techniques to address the mobile data collection needs of these projects and applications. We are inviting applications for the following research position. 1. Research Scientist / Research Fellow Responsibilities : * Design and develop mobile data collection applications based on smartphones, capable of collecting accurate human activity data in an unobtrusive manner. * Design and develop participatory sensing techniques to improve the accuracy of activity surveys. * Design and develop the backend system infrastructure and cyber-physical middleware. * Design and develop a scalable cyberinfrastructure for data management. * Lead the field deployment, application development and data collection exercise. * Prototype novel applications for urban sustainability and smart cities. Requirements : * A PhD in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related fields. * Substantial research expertise in one or more of the following areas: participatory sensing, mobile and ubiquitous computing, ambient intelligence, middleware design, sensor data management. * Excellent experience in developing system software. * Excellent hands-on experience in platform technologies such as Linux, real-time OS, web services, smartphone application development (iPhone and Android), etc. * Excellent programming skills in C/C++, Java, etc. * Excellent analytical and problem solving skills. Desirable Attributes : * Great interest and desire to be a productive researcher. * Good publication record in reputable journals or conferences. * Innovative, resourceful, and self-motivated. * A team player with good people skills. * Strong verbal and written communication skills. The successful candidate will receive a competitive remuneration package commensurate with their qualifications and experience. There is no closing date for applications. The positions will be filled as soon as we find suitable candidates. To apply, please email a cover letter and a full CV/resume to : [email protected] We regret that only shortlisted candidates will be notified. _______________________________________________ IEEE Communications Society Tech.
