I send those only when a poster repeatedly ignores feedback, both as negative feedback to them and to inform the list that we're giving this feedback (which many have asked, FWIW). > 2) making us actually read the CFP which otherwise we would not have > read (and thus giving an incredible marketing boost to these events). You don't need to read the CFP; that's your decision. If the post is from me in response to a CFP post, you already know you can ignore it. > I understand your rational but I think we should look for a more > pragmatic solution. If you believe people will follow directions, it's easy to automatically filter received email with "CFP" in the title. The problem is that nobody follows the rules - if they did, I wouldn't need to make such posts like the response before. [email protected] is unfortunately too well known as a place to send CFPs - even ones that have nothing to do with computing at all. We are planning to move to the ComSoc email servers, at which point our current address will change, and that will help for a while. Regardless, the place where CFPs are posted will always require some amount of monitoring. Joe (TCCC Chair) _______________________________________________ IEEE Communications Society Tech.
