So, it as been a tough week since I've got back from Amsterdam. Lots
of reading to catch up, planning and a lot of talk. This was the week
of Twitter (http://twitter.com/vd), as you can see here on the stats:
http://tweetstats.com/graphs/vd
Twitter's not new to me, in fact, I've been a lurker in the system for
quite a while, but just last month I decided to jump on the bandwagon.
This originated two articles on this blog; [1] how is stealing my
blogging time and [2] how is IRC all over again.

In the Next Web conference, on Scoble talk, I wondered how could he
managed all that "rock star" attention, since is twitter/social
program kept popping on his screen every second. Two days ago he
answered it; he turns it off to work [3]. But, can I get along with
the instant social tool and the blog, at the same time ? I think so!
"Microblogging" is not for me, but is a nice way to be in touch and
"talk" with your followers (blog readers or not), yet it's not the
holly grail. It fails on "thinking part", where the hardest work is
and therefor the place for a blog. That's why some people don't engage
in it and start saying that will close down their blog in favor for
twitter's nice chat. It shows how people didn't get the blog idea
right. In fact, the blog was their nice chat and now they found their
place, Twitter.

Also this week, there was the Conversas Unicer [4] ... talks ... here
in Portugal. An event for bloggers (?) and companies, or better yet, a
talk about blogs in companies. When I started watching the first
thought was: what the hell! it's a suits event!! The second was: what
the hell! was that our blog cream ? and finally, the third was: oh,
this is boring [5]. This event just proved that no one knows what
their talking about. For them blog is just a new site, with no
relevant information there and where they can get some money out of
it. Again, wrong and time will prove it.

My blog is my "log", hence the old "wlog" (work log) designation. It's
not a new site, it's my life log, it has relevant information to me
and possibly to other, as public logging and sharing, yet I don't want
to monetize it because it's my blog and not a site. It will not be
replaced by Twitter, it's not my web chat.
