Second day at Criativa 08 started with a major deja-vu! For my
surprise and incredibility, the event started *again* 45 minutes late.
People, get a grip! You're publicists, marketoids and communicators;
you produce and promote events, you, better than anyone should now
these things and don't ever make the same mistakes, in two consecutive
days. Here's my report, from the morning conference, since, this time,
I would like to attend the afternoon, but was for Edimpresa employees
only.
*Vitor Duarte* - Creative Director of BloomGraphics; Want details? See
my post from yesterday. Today was the same speech, jokes and intro.
Yay for this "creative" .. director.
*Alex d'Arte* - Senior copywriter from Brandia: "I did, do and
achieve"; "I rule", was his attitude towards design and creativity. He
*does* stuff, which *is* very good, as he said, but he didn't show
anything that he actually did, just some flickr/corbis photos and
youtube videos. Nice .... For Alex there's four concepts (not three as
he told us, yeap that's right, I can do math) for the moment: time,
which is in-calculate and most precious good; medium is the message,
not the end; there must be involvement in work, everyday; passion is
queen, without it nothing happens. Some quotes that I retain; "the
world is photoshop", "cease the world", "publicity should be pull not
push", "entertainment is the key". Main note here: the best way to
address publicity is to let the news talk about it.
Célia Quico* - Zon marketing manager: Very powerpointed (which in fact
didn't also work today) and academic. Talked about media, creatives
and audience, the media convergence and how the actual media's became
the new platforms for communication. Did I mentioned that it was very
academic ? Yes! It was boring and didn't show any results or at least
bring new things to discussion, sorry, I didn't take many notes.
Still; there's a film that she talked and which I didn't knew, Network
- http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0074958/ , from 1976 which own 4 oscars
with Faye Dunaway and Peter Finch, as I understood a film to watch and
understand. Best quote from her: "mouse monkeys", that's what I'll
call henceforth the MSFT engineers.
Bottom line; It was a nice event to Edimpresa people, that they decide
to open to the public.
