------------ The following was written after a huge disbelief about how this country works and is headed to. ------------
To all you hackers, geeks, computer people, software workers, tech suits and corporate users; lets put an end on this situation that Portugal lives in! Where computer people get harassed by normal one, where we can't be different, we're we can't work with decent tools and proper access to knowledge. We are the IT professionals, we work with, in and on computers, they're our daily tools, our only tools, we need them to do our job, so that people use internet, cellphones, see TV, cash money on ATMs or simply communicate and learn, so why can't have them with lower taxes ? Just like the fisherman do with oil and truckers with street taxes. They have government benefits, so why don't we too ? Aren't we people and portuguese like others ? Don't we move this country, silently every night ? Don't we bring entertainment and information to people who uses new medias ? The wobbly backgrounds on every news report, every digital effect on TV ? So I say, lets do something about this, for our country and for our job. We want lower taxes on our daily professional tools, like computers and computer material, peripherals, software and IT services. Let us buy our tools from all around the world without stopping on customs for taxes. We do believe that portugal needs to be changed and IT is one way of leverage our country, in this information society, which the government praises and promises a lot. We want a better IT country, so let us buy books and articles from Amazon.com or other shop outside Europe without the customs lottery, on every single item. Our world is made without no boundaries or premisses, we re-invent it every second, we've built and support the communication highways,, the knowledge to people and build the connections between systems and networks. Our world is bits and bytes, we don't want to promote a different culture than the one that government announced. We're here for a better world to everyone. Again, why can't have the same benefits for our work tools as other professional areas do ? //VD _______________________________________________ tce mailing list [email protected] http://lists.paradigma.pt/mailman/listinfo/tce
