I'd like to say that the transition team has had no official contact
with the Council, so the Pioneer Press' headline was news to us.
And the Council supports roads and transit, it's not either or.

This list has been pretty quiet for a while, but I think that the
recent election is going to bring lots of Metropolitan area issues to
the fore.
First of all, the whole Roads vs Transit debate (and funding) that
Terrell brought up this morning.
But, then there is the issue of the Met Council itself -
"As far as Pawlenty sees it, the Met Council
has often overstepped its bounds and grown
"too big for its britches," as he said on a
radio show last week."
What will the Met Council look like in two years?
Its exactly the area of Transit and Urban Planning that most concerns
me under a Pawlenty administration.
Any comments?

Rift near for Met Council, governor
BY MARA H. GOTTFRIED
Pioneer Press

"The Metropolitan Council, the Twin Cities' regional planning agency,
has pushed a growth plan that hinges on light-rail transit.
Gov.-elect Tim Pawlenty, on the other hand, vows to fund road
construction.
The Met Council has clashed with suburban communities that didn't
fall in line with its principles.
Pawlenty, a Republican legislator from Eagan, is a strong proponent
of local control."
