While I cheer this point the Strib is making about choices, I have been very
unhappy with the slant they have on the issue of transit.

I accept that we need to push transit as an option for commuters. This will
really help get suburban riders to support the issue. My problem with the
Strib is their frame of reference is someone who has a car as an option.
The coverage of the October 1995 bus strike focused almost exclusively on
commuters who would have to drive in rush hour and their inconvience.
Belatedly I think they did an article on the residents where buses are the
first and only choice for getting some place.

So my point is that when we think of transit we have to also remember for
some people this is there first choice on travel.
