We went with "displays" because some people feel that "appears" is akin to magic. Poof! It appeared! I guess firmware or software can make something display, but only a magician can make it appear, or something like that. Personally, I don't mind either as long as it's consistent. Pick a word or term and stick with it. Cheers!
