If these files were normal files, then yes, I would agree. I completely understand the impetus here (there is a lot of uneccesary complexity out there), but reusing generated files really would hurt more than it helped. These files are built dynamically from the individual files in a book; any changes to content in a book requires regenerating them, which immediately would make them inaccurate for the other books they'd be shared across. Even if you generated them once and then reused them, that threat would always be lurking out there.
