I haven't seen a flowchart work well for describing a procedure. I've
seen some okay higher-level descriptions of processes using
flowcharts. The numbered steps were available elsewhere; I could look
at the flowchart to get the big picture.

Have you tried a few flowcharts to see how well they worked?
