I've discovered on-line maps to be very unreliable when it comes to
lesser-traveled roads.  For instance, when I lived in Monroe, Louisiana,
I took back roads to my hometown in Arkansas-it made sense when you
looked at the AAA map.  However, when I tried the same thing on an
online map system, using roads other than Interstates or 4-lane US
highways, it plotted a circuitous route that would have tacked on an
hour and one-hundred miles to my trip.  Mind you, this was a 1 hour and
45 minute, 103 mile trip.  

Unless I'm traveling to a city that's on a major Interstate or US
Highway, I double check the online map with the most current manual road
atlas.
