Did that to no avail.

Yep...it was the first thing I checked.

There are a number of graphics and the book is 170 pages.  I set the PDF
Conversion settings to Smallest File Size, image compression to 72 dpi, do
not imbed fonts.  I even rand the "Reduce File Size" command after the PDF
was created and ended up with a larger file.

Headings set to four, conversion settings to smallest file size, compression
settings set to 72 dpi for images, cross-references are set for headings to
fourth level and figure titles.

Looks like it may be time to purge the system of Acrobat and Office 2003 and
do a clean install of both.  Sigh...and I was so hoping for a quiet Friday.
