That I know of -- NEVER.

There's something terribly wrong with your work environment if 
people feel like they must lie about or deny things they've previously 
said.

In fact, on a product specific, in-house email list (that goes to about 
50 people), a developer just posted something like, "I need to retract 
my statement. I was wrong....". And a few emails later I had to follow 
up with, "Oooohh.... *that's* what you were talking about. Well, 
never mind :)"
