Still trying to get my feet under me after about a month at the new job...
- Writing API docs for a small data compression utility
- Taking over management of about 18 ongoing doc projects
- Listening to devs talk about programming standards and naming conventions
and writers talk about converting xml to wml to chm or pdf and trying to get
a handle on what kind of standards (both writing and programming) I'll need
to put in place to grease those wheels and tweak tool output to everyone's
satisfaction
- Trying to find my way around this humongous intranet
- Cogitating about what to put in rev 1 of the style guide
- Acting as resident Word guru
- Comparing several Word templates to sort out which styles do what where
and trying to figure out how to change them without breaking any of the
conversion processes already in place (whaddaya mean there's no *note*
style???)
- Thinking about how to coordinate program releases with doc releases and
what information needs to go with each release and what format it needs to
be in
-reading, reading, reading,...
