Getting a second (third?) wind on creation of detailed production line overviews and work instructions. SME time has been an issue; I ask for half-hour blocks of time, management promises to send them up to my office, they don't show up -- they're being pushed to "make <production> rate" so documentation slides to the bottom of the pile again. Things have started moving forward since I began casual discussions about "what would be in documentation that would actually work for the people who are being expected to use it" at the smoking area on my way in to the office in the morning.
I am ancient and wicked and sneaky. Made a lot of brownie points with the SMEs by asking first if it was okay with them to talk about this during their break time. I'm allergic to cigarette smoke so I pay for these conferences with a bleeding throat for several days after exposure, but we do what we gotta do to get what we gotta get.
