I have a Compaw NC3121 NIC, Intel chip SB82558B, that does not seem to be going into promiscuos mode. I am running Ethereal 8.18 on Redhat 7.1. I see broadcast and other information, however I do not see tcp data for any other computer than this redhat box. I have configured the port on the switch so that all data from other ports is mirrored to the port this box is plugged into, including the trunk ports. I see DNS traffic, I see IPX RIP and SAP. I see NT Browser traffic. I need to be able to see TCP HTTP traffic so I can filter on that and save it to a file. Any ideas on how to set this NIC to promiscuos mode or should I swap it for another? Thank you in advance. Also, if I have over looked some docs somewhere, please let me know. I am still new to this protocol analyzer. - This is the TCPDUMP workers list.
