I'd been checking stuff into the 0.6 and 3.6 branches, rather than
sliding the tags; I subsequently slid the tags on some of the stuff I'd
changed in the tcpdump directory, under the assumption that it might be
cleaner, with the stuff that's the same in 3.6 and in the main branch
having the same version number. (The stuff on the branch, and the stuff
at the top of the tree, is the same, so the only effect of the retagging
is to change the revision number.)
(Unfortunately, it's not obvious to me how to undo that and put the tag
back on the branch, short of manually editing the RCS files, in case
that was a mistake.)
Should I slide the tags on the other stuff I've put into 0.6/3.6, or
should I try to put the old tags back?

I'd be willing to do at least some of the auditing, although, with 68
"print-*.c" files, it might be reasonable to split it up more than two
ways.
I'd be willing to continue looking at the SMB and related dissectors,
and also look at those I added; Itojun, would you be willing to check
out at least some of the IPv6-related dissectors?
