The person to whom Bill is responding said, in the Ethereal mailing
list, that he's working on changing the Aironet driver for Linux *not*
to prepend an Ethernet frame header to frames, but to, I infer, leave an
802.11 header on them (given that, among other things, he also sent in
fixes for the 802.11 dissector in Ethereal, which dissects 802.11
headers).
DLT_IEEE_80211 was put in there for the benefit of systems where raw
packets captures on 802.11 devices give you frames with 802.11 headers,
not frames with Ethernet headers; somebody'd asked for that a while ago
because he was thinking of changing some BSD 802.11 drivers to do that.
