Andi, Perhaps I got a lemon . . . but I've had my Inspiron 4100 for 3 yrs
and am on my third power cord, second floppy drive and cd drive, and second
hard drive. I lost my full, 8 yr old address book and a variety of other
files when it crashed the last time, and was without all my files for a
period of time while the university techs were working on it.
I would also share that I purchased a Gateway laptop in 1998 while a
doctoral student, did all my research and my dissertation on it before
passing it on to my son. He's used it the last three yrs as an engineering
student, and just gave it to my daughter as she begins an econ program.
Never replaced a thing on it, and it still works great.
If I were buying one now, it would be a Gateway.
