Hi Elizabeth,

I show "Witness" which depicts the Amish and also shows the sharp contrast
between a subculture and the dominant culture represented by a big city police
officer who is forced to spend time with them. It's a mainstream movie with the
requisite Hollywood love story but students like it and they apply many
sociological concepts to their responses--ethnocentrism, cultural relativism,
culture shock, etc.

For my introduction to sociology course, we do a segment on Subcultures. I like to show a video and have successfully used The Devil's Playground. However, I would like to make a change and am looking for suggestions.

Any videos/documentaries illustrating subcultures within the United States?

As usual, thanks so much.

Elizabeth
