Yes, I guess it is. I never used to take attendance. But with the
nonchalance of today's students, I've found it necessary. For me, it's
not "adaptive learning" when students miss a bunch of classes and then
blame you for their low grades, when students walk out during the
middle of class to make phone calls, when they come as late as they
wish, when....
